Everyone raise your glasses – we have a new winner in town. Nestled high in the pristine Swiss Alps, The Brecon in Adelboden should take a bow. The Brecon is a seamless blend of a hotel and intimate alpine chalet, creating an entirely new and improved style of mountain experience.
The hotel’s design swerves the alpine chalet clichés, leaning more into a Soho-house-style-scandi mash up. The Mountain Room boasts a soaring double-height ceiling and a grand fireplace that crackles well into the night. Elsewhere, rustic wood panelling and deep, enveloping sofas create a mood that is both cocooning whilst chic. This is not the sterile luxury of high-end resorts, but something infinitely warmer, more personal.
Everything is taken care of, allowing guests to revel in the rare pleasure of not thinking about a single bill thanks to the hotel’s all-inclusive concept. That means crisp glasses of white wine appear as if by magic on sun-drenched terraces, and impossibly good rosti is served at just the right moment after a day on the slopes. The open kitchen concepts allows guests to chat to the chef, sharing preferences that can be woven into the set menu served each evening.
The Brecon has embraced the ultimate 21st-century luxury: service via WhatsApp. From hot chocolate by the fire to fine wines or cocktails delivered directly to the hot tub, a simple message ensures that whatever you’re craving is at your command.
Adelboden itself is blissfully empty of British accents. The Swiss frequent the small resort owing to the world-class skiing in winter and breathtaking hiking trails come summer. There is no doubt that The Brecon will be a sensation and will really put Adelboden on the map. No doubt, it wont remain British accent free for long.
